"Meet the Memory Person - a Performative Monument" is a collaborative art project that envisions this concept. The project explores memory culture, public space, and the transformative power of encounters. We aim to revisit and revitalize fading and underrepresented local memories through artistic methods and interactions while activating public sculptures or addressing their absence. In workshops, mobile installations, and interactive city walks, we collect and share the stories of residents, particularly those connected to exile and migration. The performative monument is dedicated to these individuals who are finding or have found new homes, and they actively shape its ongoing creation. Their experiences and memories are expressed through multi-media art objects, transforming the Memory Person into an open archive and a monument in-the-making. We invite you to contribute an archive entry and share a memory of your own. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
In 2023 and 2024, five performers embodied the Memory Person in Munich-Giesing, where different past and contemporary movements of exile and migration interweave. To address the global nature and site-specificity of exile and migration, we are developing the concept of a traveling monument that evolves based on its context. In October 2024, the project will be hosted in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. We hope to meet you soon!

The "Memory Person" project makes this possible. It's all about gathering people's memories and turning them into art. We're especially interested in hearing stories from people who have moved from other places.
How does it work?
Why is it important? This way we can remember people's stories and create something new together.
Want to join? You can share your own story or just be there. We'd love to have you!
In short: "The Memory Person" is a project where everyone works together to share memories and make art. It's about celebrating diversity and getting to know each other better.
